Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic porcelain that are bonded directly to the front and top surfaces of the teeth. We have been using them to change the shape, size and color of front teeth for many years. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. With veneers as an alternative, there is no reason to put up with gaps between your teeth, teeth that are stained, badly shaped, or crooked. The procedure involves the removal of a small amount of tooth structure so that the tooth doesn’t look like and feel like it is fatter than a normal tooth. This is by far the most common method of treatment for making veneers.

Will They Look Like Normal Teeth?

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options. Because they are thin, light can shine through them and they take on the natural color of the underlying tooth.

How Durable Are Porcelain Veneers?

With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade. Dr. Sun & Dr. Bennett will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available. Please understand that veneers can break if the patient does not take care of them. For example, if veneers are placed on the front upper teeth, do not plan on using these teeth to chew on a pencil! Veneers can be a problem with patients who grind their teeth a significant amount. We will always have our patients using a night guard to protect their investment. Many times we will suggest that veneers not be used if we feel that your habits will cause these restorations to break. We have other alternatives that can be utilized if veneers are not the restoration of choice.
